SUPPORT FOR
THE LGBTQIA2+
COMMUNITY

All young people, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, deserve a safe and supportive environment in which to achieve their full potential.
– Dr. Harvey Milk

Identifying within the LGBTQIA2+ community can be a source of strength and pride, and it can also bring about unique challenges navigating prejudice, stigma, and other barriers to living authentically. Some challenges that LGBTQIA2+ folks face may include: the coming out process, navigating relationships, rejection from loved ones, depression, anxiety, suicidality, and trauma. Many LGBTQIA2+ folks face compounding levels of oppression, as their sexuality and gender identity also intersect with their race, religion, disability, and socio-economic class.

At Fairfax Place Therapy, we stand against injustice in all its forms, and we recognize the many harmful systems of oppression that are deeply embedded in our society. In our practice, we are committed to taking accountability in unpacking how we benefit from these systems, and to educate ourselves and promote a more just society. It is our goal to meet you where you are, and work together to create a brave space for you to move towards a place of healing and thriving.

We recognize that many clients may prefer to work with a provider who shares some aspect of their identity. Our team of clinicians is made up of knowledgeable allies as well as openly queer providers, committed to providing you or your family with care that is empowering and affirming. If you would like to learn more about working with one of our providers, please send us an email, call our main line at 571-341-0431, or reach out via our contact form.
