MEET THE TEAM

Damian Ayala, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in History, I pursued a Master’s of Arts in Professional Counseling. Prior to my work as a therapist, I worked within the elementary school environment as both a Special Education teacher and a behavioral health clinician. I have provided therapy in a variety of settings, including schools, homes, a juvenile detention center, and an outpatient counseling office. I am experienced in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families to address a variety of behavioral and emotional health needs.
With over 12 years of providing quality professional mental health services to children, teenagers, adults, and families, I look forward to helping my clients thrive in the midst of incredibly challenging situations. It has been said that “Life is a beautiful struggle.” Often, the struggle – whether it arises from life transitions, loss, trauma, or everyday stressors – overshadows the beauty of life. It is in these times I seek to walk alongside my clients on their life journeys and provide the space and time for them to develop insight and skills, grieve losses, process traumas, and rediscover joy and hope.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe environment that nurtures connection and collaboration with my clients in order to instill hope and cultivate the outcomes they are seeking. To this end, I approach my relationship with each client with cultural humility and empathy, as well as holistic acceptance.
Life is hard and healing happens within relationships. It is my privilege to join with you in your own beautiful struggle – to accentuate your strengths, elevate your hope, and affect positive change in your life.
