MEET THE TEAM

Leigh Roberts, LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I completed my Master’s of Social Work as well as a Master of Arts in Development Studies with a focus on Human Rights and Social Justice. Before joining Fairfax Place Therapy in 2022, I worked in Emergency Mental Health Services for Prince William County Community Services Board.
I have more than ten years of experience in human services, including working with children, adolescents, and adults who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, attachment disorders, grief and loss, substance use, disordered eating, and the effects of trauma. I am an Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR) therapist, and combine elements of Internal Family Systems – or “parts” work – with strengths-based, cognitive-reframing approaches. I also integrate mindfulness exercises and somatic awareness in sessions.
Our experiences shape us, and it is healing to explore, identify, and understand the formative and relational dynamics that influence us in the present. Together, we can challenge or reaffirm core beliefs, process trauma, work through difficult patterns and triggers, and learn to recognize and safely feel emotions. I believe that the role of the therapist is to provide a safe base camp for an individual to discover a path to their own healing. I want to help you explore and find change through therapeutic connection and relationship.
